Meanwhile, Charu Sharma, Director of the Pro Kabaddi League, expressed his happiness by commenting on the incredible journey of the PKL, that started 10 years ago.
Award underlines India’s growth as sporting nation
The prestigious award is yet another example of India’s growth in the sports sector, with initiatives like the draft National Sports Policy 2024. Pro Kabaddi League’s historic success conforms with the country’s ultimate goal of creating a vibrant and inclusive sports ecosystem, including the aim of taking Kabaddi to the Olympic level.
Defending champions Puneri Paltan was also recognized at the award ceremony, bagging the ‘Sports Franchise of the Year’ award. The franchise’s grassroots initiative, Yuva Paltan, has played a key role in developing young kabaddi stars like Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat, who have emerged as top contributors and have also gone on to represent India internationally. Both players played a crucial role in Puneri Paltan’s PKL Season 10 victory.
Mashal Sports, the organizers of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), is now aiming to expand Pro Kabaddi League’s reach in the country as well as build a global fanbase. The focus will be on enhancing fan engagement on the ground and in the digital landscape and contributing to the development of kabaddi at the grassroots level.
