New Delhi: As winter approaches, the Ram Lalla deity in Ayodhya is set to receive seasonal care to ensure warmth and comfort. From November 20, on the auspicious day of Aghan ki Panchami, arrangements will be made to keep the deity cosy, including the addition of woollen garments, blankets, and seasonal offerings.
The idol, seated in the grand sanctum of the Ram Temple, will be wrapped in pashmina shawls from Ladakh and special woollens crafted in Uttarakhand. The fabrics, known for their superior warmth, are tailored by renowned designer Manish Tripathi, who has undertaken the responsibility of designing daily attire for the deity.
Additional measures are being taken to protect the deity from the chill
The temple management shared that Ram Lalla, seen in his princely form, wears a new set of garments each day, with special attire for festivals and ceremonies. As the cold intensifies, layers of woollen clothing will be added, crafted from regional textiles such as handloom, khadi, and embroidered pieces from Kullu, Kashmir, and Chamba.
Additional measures are being taken to protect the deity from the chill. Warm air blowers and heaters will be set up in the temple’s inner sanctum. To adapt the offerings to the season, yoghurt will be replaced with dry fruits and rabri-kheer. Temple priest Acharya Satyendra Das noted that Aghan ki Panchami holds great significance in the Hindu calendar, making it an ideal time to introduce these changes, according to a report by The Times of India.
The preparations extend to the idols of Lord Ram’s brothers and Lord Hanuman, who are seated in the Ram Darbar on the first floor of the temple.
