PM Modi to review Mahakumbh preparations
The Mahakumbh, a religious pilgrimage held every 12 years at Haridwar, Ujjain, Nasik, and Prayagraj, will take place in Prayagraj at the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. The event is set to begin on 13 January 2025 and conclude on 26 February.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the newly created Mahakumbh district and Prayagraj on 13 December to review preparations and inaugurate development projects, including the upgraded Prayagraj-Varanasi rail track.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a state cabinet meeting on November 22, where it was decided to dispatch ministers to personally invite the chief ministers and governors of all states to the Mahakumbh.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that most ministers are coordinating with dignitaries in various states, arranging appointments to fulfil their assignments.
Deputy Chief Ministers Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya are among those tasked with extending these invitations. Pathak, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Thursday, is expected to return to Mumbai for the invitation. He will likely be joined by his cabinet colleague Sanjay Nishad, who is also set to visit Rajasthan. Maurya, meanwhile, will travel to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the same purpose.
Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna is scheduled to visit Bengaluru on December 13 and 14 to invite Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He will also travel to Delhi soon to extend the invitation to Chief Minister Atishi.
