New Delhi: The second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY 2.0), led by Narendra Modi, aims to provide financial assistance for housing. On August 9, 2024, the Cabinet authorised the programme. It aims to help middle-class urban families and economically disadvantaged groups (EWS). One lakh new homes are to be built under PMAY 2.0, with a subsidy of Rs 2.30 lakh for everyone.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said that the earlier phase of PMAY-Urban saw the sanctioning of 1.18 lakh houses and over 8.55 lakh units finished and given to beneficiaries. The second phase will have multiple components, such as:
Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC)
Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)
Affordable Rental Housing (ARH)
Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS)
The government has opened the online application process also for eligible beneficiaries to apply for these 1 lakh housing units under PMAY-U 2.0.

Active Aadhaar-linked bank account
Income certificate
Caste certificate
Land ownership documents (if seeking financial aid for construction on personal land)
Steps to Apply for PMAY 2.0
Go to the official website: Open the PMAY-U portal at https://pmay-urban.gov.in.
Access the application section: Click on the “Apply for PMAY-U 2.0” option on the homepage.
See the guidelines: Read through the scheme’s instructions before proceeding.
Check eligibility: Enter details like annual income to confirm eligibility for the programme.
Aadhaar verification: Input your Aadhaar details for validation.
Complete the application form: Provide required information like your address, income proof and other relevant documents.
Submit the application: Once the form is filled, submit it and monitor your application status on the official portal.
