Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo held a meeting of officials on Friday to check the progress made in installations of solar rooftops under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the Union Territory. The Chief Secretary asked the concerned departments to carry out campaigns to create awareness among the masses of the scheme.
During the meeting, Dulloo also asked the concerned departments to create awareness material in local languages so that people of the Union Territory can easily understand, apart from sending bulk SMSs.He also asked officials present in the meeting to reach out to panchayats with programmes distributing IECs in local videos. He also suggested making educational videos regarding the same.
The scheme is reform-oriented: Atal Dulloo
The chief secretary pointed out that the scheme is reform-oriented and will benefit the masses. Asking the officials to increase the number of applicants and timely installations, Dulloo also fixed a target of installing 30,000 solar rooftops across Jammu and Kashmir.
He also reviewed solarisation of Government buildings through J&K Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA). During the meeting, he also asked the department to work on bringing more improvement in the implementation of this scheme.
70 MW capacity of grid-connected solar rooftops to be installed
The meeting also discussed installing 70 MW of grid-connected solar rooftops on Government buildings and 238 MW under RESCO mode by NHPC and JAKEDA cumulatively.
