PM Modi’s poll rallies in J&K, Haryana today; first PM to visit Doda after 45 years

Doda: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, at 12.30 pm on Saturday (September 14). This rally marks a significant moment as it will be the first time in 45 years that a Prime Minister will hold a rally in the region. The last such rally was conducted by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1979.

The rally, set to take place at the Doda Sports Stadium, is a part of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which are being held for the first time in a decade. 

Security arrangements in Doda

The area has faced long-term challenges, including issues related to terrorism. To ensure safety, tight security measures have been implemented. The entire rally venue has been sealed and drones will be used to monitor the area. Additional security has also been arranged for the surrounding regions.

Doda rally part of BJP’s ‘Mission 50’

This rally is part of the BJP’s “Mission 50,” aimed at securing a significant number of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. 

The party is targeting eight assembly seats in the Chenab region, which includes Doda, Doda West, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Indrawal, Pader-Nagseni, Ramban and Banihal. The BJP is contesting all 43 seats in Jammu.

Voting for the 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir will occur in three phases. The first phase is scheduled for September 18, followed by the second and third phases on September 25 and October 1, respectively. The results are expected to be announced on October 8.

After Doda, PM Modi will go to Haryana

Following his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi will travel to Haryana. He will address a rally at 3.30 pm in Kurukshetra’s Theme Park. The focus will be on encouraging voters to support 23 candidates from six districts. 

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other key leaders will attend the rally. The party aims to secure a third consecutive victory in Haryana.
