Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nine requests, including five for the people of Uttarakhand and four for the pilgrims and the tourists visiting the hill state, will be the basis of the policies which the Uttarakhand government will formulate in future.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has termed PM Modi’s nine requests as the basic mantra of development. He said PM Modi has demonstrated his affection for the state by raising his concerns over the issues like conversation of local languages and migration.

On 24th foundation day celebration of Uttarakhand as a separate state, PM Modi listed down nine requests. In his first request, he underlined the need for conservation of languages like Gharwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari and urged the people of the state to teach the languages to future generations. Secondly, he urged everyone to further the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ campaign to fight the challenges of climate change. Thirdly, he urged to conserve water bodies and further campaigns related to water sanitation. Fourth, he stressed the citizens to be connected to their roots and visit their villages. Fifth, he stressed on the conservation of traditional houses in the state and suggested transforming them into homestays.
State government gives special incentives to the production of films in regional dialects
CM Dhami said that his government has already initiated steps for the conversation of the local languages. According to him, the state government is giving special incentives to production of the films in regional dialects. Government is also aiding various fairs to promote folk culture. The Pahadi communities’ prominent festivals like Igas and Harela are being celebrated with great enthusiasm.
State government has encouraged people to preserve Tibari houses
Similarly, the government is encouraging people to preserve traditional Tibari houses and get them registered as homestay. To connect the “Pravasi” who have migrated to either abroad or in different cities of the country, the state government has started holding “Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammellan” from this year. Dhami hoped that such a programme will gain further momentum after PM Modi’s address.
Massive sapling plantation campaign was launched on Harela festival recently
Dhami further said the state government will accelerate sapling plantation drive after PM Modi’s campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”. He recalled that recently a massive sapling plantation drive was launched in the state during the Harela festival. The campaign is expected to enhance the green cover of the state.
CM Dhami hopes PM Modi’s appeal will create awareness among tourist about danger of single use plastic
Regarding PM Modi’s four requests for the tourists coming to Uttarakhand, CM Dhami said the state government has made solid arrangements for the disposal of plastic garbage in all the four Dhams of the state. He hoped that PM’s appeal to refrain from single use plastic will certainly create awareness among the tourists visiting Uttarakhand. Stalls are also put on the Yatra route to enable the tourists to purchase local products by the women self help group.
