Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for various development projects in Maharashtra worth over Rs 7,600 crore through a video conference at around 1 pm on Wednesday. This initiative aims to boost the region’s growth across multiple sectors, including aviation, healthcare, and education.
One of the significant projects includes the upgradation of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, with an estimated cost of around Rs 7,000 crore. This upgrade is expected to enhance manufacturing, tourism, logistics, and healthcare services in Nagpur and surrounding Vidarbha region.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a new integrated terminal building at Shirdi Airport, costing over Rs 645 crore. This terminal will offer world-class facilities for the many religious tourists visiting Shirdi. The design of the terminal will reflect the spiritual significance of the neem tree associated with Sai Baba.
PM Modi will operationalize 10 government medical colleges located in various cities, including Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Washim, Bhandara, Hingoli, and Ambernath in Thane. These colleges will increase undergraduate and postgraduate seats and provide specialised tertiary healthcare services to the people.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, aiming to position India as the “Skill Capital of the World.” Established through a public-private partnership between the Tata Education and Development Trust and the Government of India, the institute will offer training in advanced fields such as mechatronics, artificial intelligence, data analytics, industrial automation, and robotics. This initiative seeks to create an industry-ready workforce equipped with modern skills.
PM Modi will launch Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Maharashtra. This centre will provide essential academic and administrative data to students, teachers, and administrators through live chat bots like Smart Upasthiti and Swadhyay. VSK aims to offer valuable insights to schools, improve resource management, strengthen connections between parents and the state, and enhance teaching practices and student learning through curated instructional resources.
