Ranchi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a grand 3-kilometer long roadshow in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, on Sunday, attracting thousands of people. The crowd gathered along the streets, eagerly awaiting a glimpse of the Prime Minister, who waved and greeted them from an open vehicle, adorned with flowers and his cutout.
This roadshow was the second such event for PM Modi in Jharkhand this year, with the first taking place on May 3. The roadshow, which began at the OTC Ground, made its way to New Market Chowk, amid tight security.
Tight security arrangements for PM Modi’s roadshow
The excitement among the public was evident, with many capturing the moment on their mobile phones. In view of the Prime Minister’s roadshow, the Ranchi district administration imposed strict security measures, including prohibitory orders from 6 am to 11 pm and a ban on vehicles entering the city from 2 pm to 8 pm.
Additionally, a no-flying zone was declared within a 200-meter radius between Birsa Munda Airport and Sahajanand Chowk, with restrictions on drones and paragliding for the duration of the event.
PM Modi addresses two rallies in Jharkhand
Before the roadshow, PM Modi addressed two rallies, one in Bokaro and the other in Gumla, where he promised all-around development for the state. During his speeches, he emphasised the BJP’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Jharkhand, particularly the tribals, SC/ST, and OBC communities. He assured the people that under BJP-NDA government, the state would continue to grow and prosper.
The PM also took the opportunity to criticize the opposition, particularly the Congress, accusing them of trying to undermine the unity of these communities and threatening to take away their reservation benefits.
During his rally in Gumla, PM Modi took a dig at the opposition, particularly the Congress and JMM, accusing them of holding back the progress of Jharkhand. He reminded the crowd that when the BJP government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee was in power, two new states, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, were created.
He highlighted the work done for the tribal community, including the establishment of a separate ministry dedicated to their welfare. Since 2014, when he became the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi claimed to have implemented historic initiatives for the benefit of Jharkhand’s people, especially in terms of schemes that originated from the state rather than Delhi.
