New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday will inaugurate and lay foundation stone for several major railway projects across the country, aimed at enhancing connectivity and fostering socio-economic growth. According to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the virtual event will begin at 12.30pm via videoconferencing.
The highlight of the event will be the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division. Spanning 742.1km, the division will include major sections such as Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal-Pathankot, Batala-Pathankot, and Pathankot-Joginder Nagar.
Inauguration of new Jammu Railway Division
The project is expected to benefit Jammu and Kashmir, improving connectivity with the rest of the country. The new railway division will not only address long-standing regional aspirations but also create employment opportunities, boost tourism, drive infrastructure development, and promote overall socio-economic progress in the region.
In Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station. Developed as a modern coaching terminal with eco-friendly infrastructure, the station is aimed at easing congestion at existing terminals like Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda. Built at a cost of Rs 413 crore, the terminal offers enhanced passenger amenities and promises to make train travel more efficient and comfortable.
Rayagada Railway Division Building
The foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building under the East Coast Railway will also be laid during the event. The initiative is expected to strengthen rail connectivity across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and nearby areas. The project is poised to stimulate local trade, improve transport infrastructure, and generate employment opportunities.
