Vadodara: During a roadshow in Vadodara, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez took a moment to interact with Diya Gosai, a differently-abled artist and student from MS University, who was eagerly awaiting their arrival with her artwork.
Diya, a skilled painter, had stationed herself along the route, proudly displaying framed portraits she had created of both leaders. As their convoy drew near, both Prime Minister Modi and President Sanchez noticed her display and chose to pause the procession. They stepped out of their open jeeps to greet Diya, who had been excitedly expecting the moment.
According to an official statement, “The entire caravan of the road show passed from the side and both Prime Ministers’ eyes fell on this girl.” Diya then presented the portraits to PM Modi and President Sanchez, who “gladly accepted” her artwork, extending their best wishes for her future. The special encounter added a memorable highlight to the roadshow, organised in celebration of the leaders’ visit to inaugurate Tata Advanced Systems Ltd’s new aircraft assembly plant in Vadodara.

Modi and Sanchez launch historic C-295 aircraft
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spain’s President Pedro Sanchez inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft at the TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) Campus in Vadodara.
During the event, Sanchez talked about the strong cultural and industrial ties between India and Spain, recalling the 1960s collaboration between Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia and Indian musician Ravi Shankar. He said, “Paco de Lucia and Ravi Shankar fused flamenco with Indian classical music, bridging our cultures and opening paths to the future. The plant is a symbol of industrial excellence and our growing friendship.”
Under the C-295 programme, 56 aircraft will be manufactured, with Airbus delivering 16 directly from Spain and TASL producing the remaining 40 in India. The Vadodara facility marks India’s first private sector Final Assembly Line for military aircraft, which signals a major step in India’s defence manufacturing.
