PM Modi shares ‘Mann Ki Baat’ clip
Along with the post, PM Modi shared a clip from his first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address of this year where he appreciated the ECI’s role in modernizing voting processes and leveraging technology to strengthen the democratic system.
This year marks 15th National Voters’ Day, celebrated on January 25, 2025. The day coincides with the foundation day of Election Commission, which was established in 1950. The theme for this year, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” emphasizes the importance of informed and active voter participation.
The celebration comes after 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the largest democratic exercise in history, where millions of citizens exercised their right to vote. With India’s voter database nearing the 100-crore mark, including over 21.7 crore young voters aged 18-29, the event highlights the crucial role of youth in shaping the nation’s future.
PM Modi lauds EC’s efforts
ECI, often referred to as the guardian of free and fair elections, has faced criticism from opposition parties in the last few years. However, PM Modi had applauded its unwavering commitment to democracy. “It is commendable how the Election Commission has modernized the polling process, making it accessible and efficient for everyone,” he had said in his address.
National Voters’ Day is not just a celebration but also a reminder of the citizens’ responsibility to actively participate in the electoral process. It reinforces India’s dedication to democratic values and the collective effort to build a stronger, more inclusive democracy.
