New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha today to launch social welfare scheme for women, ‘Subhadra Yojana’, and also inaugurate several infrastructure projects. ‘Subhadra Yojana’, the financial assistance scheme of the newly-formed BJP-led state government, was one of the major promises made by the party in its election manifesto in Odisha. The women-centric scheme is named after Goddess Subhadra — the sister of Lord Jagannath.
PM Modi is visiting Odisha for the first time following the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on June 12. The Prime Minister will arrive at the Biju Patnaik International Airport at 10.50 am. He will reach Janata Maidan around 12 pm to launch the Subhadra Yojana. Meanwhile, security has been heightened in the state’s capital for Prime Minister’s day-long visit with 3,000 police personnel, including 500 officers, being deployed.
