New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit France for three days today. During his visit, both countries are expected to make a number of announcements, including on civil nuclear energy. This will be his sixth visit to France since becoming Prime Minister in 2014.
Several announcements likely to be made include small modular reactors to boost civil nuclear cooperation. Both sides will also launch an India-France Triangular Development Cooperation initiative and declare 2026 the year of India-France Innovation. A logo will also be launched on the occasion. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emanuel Macron will also co-chair the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, ‘The Indian Express’ reported.
Several world leaders to participate in Artificial Intelligence Action Summit
A number of world leaders will take part in the summit including US Vice President J D Vance, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, among others.
The two leaders will also visit Marseille city to inaugurate an Indian consulate. Notably, the city is an important telecommunications connection hub and is located at the heart of the Mediterranean making it the the gateway of submarine cables which helps Europe to link other parts of the world.
Marseille is also currently expanding in terms of renewable energy, trade, economy, and supply chain partnerships.
PM Modi, Macron to inaugurate Indian consulate
The joint inauguration of the consulate is an indication of further growth in bilateral ties between India and France and is expanded to strengthen people-to-people contact and strengthen economic ties further. Notably, during PM Modi’s visit, India and France may also announce an agreement on 26 Rafale-M aircraft for the Indian Navy as well as three Scorpene class submarines, which is in the final stage. Of negotiations.
After completing his France visit, the PM will head to the US on a two-day tour starting from February 12. This will be his first visit to the US since President Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
