Washington: During his three-day visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a hand-carved ancient silver train model to US President Joe Biden. This unique piece, crafted by artisans from Maharashtra, showcases exceptional Indian metal artistry.
Made of 92.5% silver, the model represents the pinnacle of traditional craftsmanship, featuring intricate designs achieved through techniques like engraving, repousse (hammering from behind to create raised designs), and delicate filigree work.
Train model symbolises India’s industrial history
The train model pays tribute to the steam locomotive era, symbolising a significant aspect of industrial history. Visuals from the meeting displayed PM Modi hugging Joe Biden, alongside images of PM Modi sharing similar warm moments with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that such gestures are an integral part of Indian culture, reflecting warmth and respect in diplomatic relations.
PM Modi to address Future Summit in New York
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New York on Sunday for an Indian community event in Long Island and to address the Future Summit at the United Nations General Assembly.
