New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launching the party’s nationwide ‘Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan’ in New Delhi. The initiative aims to bolster the party’s grassroots strength and empower active members to play a more prominent role in shaping the party’s future.
Modi, alongside BJP president J P Nadda and general secretary Vinod Tawde, the convener of the membership drive, formally enrolled as a ‘Sakriya Sadasya.’ “Adding momentum to our endeavour of making a Viksit Bharat! As BJP Karyakarta, proud to become the first Sakriya Sadasya and launch the Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan today… This is a movement which will further strengthen our Party at the grassroots and ensure the effective contribution of our Party Karyakartas for national progress,” PM Modi posted on X.

The campaign mandates that active members, like Modi, must enrol at least 50 people as party members in a booth or assembly constituency. This crucial step ensures that active members are eligible to participate in the party’s organisational elections, slated to commence after the membership drive concludes.
The ‘Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan’ shows the BJP’s efforts to mobilise the people at a grassroots level to engage more active members. Active members will be empowered to participate in various levels of the party’s organisational structure, from ‘Mandal Committees’ onwards, and will receive opportunities to contribute to the party’s objectives.
The membership drive, held every six years, allows existing members to renew their affiliation and welcomes new individuals to join the party. The drive’s first phase, which commenced on September 2, witnessed an impressive response, with over 6 crore members registered within the first three weeks.
