PM Modi Unveils ‘Vishwakarma Yojana’ on 77th Independence Day: Launch Date and Beneficiaries Revealed
On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the historic Red Fort, introducing the upcoming ‘Vishwakarma Yojana.’ Dedicated to empowering individuals with traditional skills, this scheme is poised to create a significant impact. The initiative’s launch is scheduled for next month, coinciding with the observance of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to boosting traditional crafts and vocations, PM Modi disclosed that ‘Vishwakarma Yojana’ will receive an allocation ranging from ₹13,000 to ₹15,000 crore. This substantial financial support is set to benefit skilled workers engaged in various professions such as barbers, goldsmiths, and washermen, among others.
With its official launch planned for September, particularly on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti falling on September 17, 2023, the scheme is designed to bring forth comprehensive benefits for workers proficient in traditional crafts. The primary goal is to enhance the quality of artisans’ products while facilitating their integration into both domestic and international markets. Moreover, the scheme aims to foster economic empowerment, prioritizing marginalized sections including SC, ST, OBC, women, transgender individuals, and other vulnerable segments of society.
Addressing the nation from the iconic Red Fort, PM Modi extended his solidarity to the people of Manipur, emphasizing the significance of peace in resolving disputes. He highlighted the collective efforts of the central and state governments in preserving and promoting peace in the northeastern state.
PM Modi’s speech also underscored the government’s commitment to expanding the network of ‘Jan Aushadhi Kendras’ from 10,000 to 25,000, thereby enhancing affordable healthcare accessibility. He addressed the challenges posed by corruption, familyism, and appeasement in democracy, vowing to continue his battle against these adversities.
In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that any hindrances on the path to achieving a developed nation by 2047 are, in essence, distortions that need to be addressed and rectified.
