New Delhi: On the first day of Navratri, a five-member group of Shiva devotees achieved their long-held dream of witnessing Mount Kailash from Old Lipulekh in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. This milestone follows the approval from the Central government, enabling the state to organize the pilgrimage under the leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
The group was transported by helicopter to Gungi, from where they traveled by road to Old Lipulekh for their spiritual experience. The itinerary includes an overnight stay in Gungi and a return to Pithoragarh on October 5.
Chief minister Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating this pilgrimage, emphasizing its significance for Shiva devotees. He stated that the government aims to develop facilities to make future trips more accessible.
This initiative marks a revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which was previously organised by the Central government before the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing pilgrims to trek to the sacred site via the Lipulekh Pass. The current efforts are expected to foster local tourism and enrich the spiritual landscape of Uttarakhand.
