New Delhi: Dubbing the violence in Sambhal as “conspiracy”, Samajwadi Party supremo and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday hit out at the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh. The Lok Sabha MP said that the incidents in Sambhal, along with reports from various places, clearly suggest that these are “part of a large-scale strategy and conspiracy”. He pointed out that the incidents in Sambhal also show a failure of the administration, which has sent a wrong message across the nation.
‘They don’t want peace in society’
Talking to reporters, Akhilesh Yadav said: “Had the government done its job properly and had clear intentions, this incident would never have happened.” He said that if anyone is responsible, it is the Bharatiya Janata Party government. “They don’t want peace in society and, by creating unrest, the BJP wants to distract people from the real issues.”
He claimed that inflation and unemployment were growing in the country, and rather than addressing its failures, the BJP resorts to creating conspiracies and division. Akhilesh Yadav added the BJP members have forgotten the struggle for independence, which was fought by people of all religions together. Those who seek to spread rift and discord are against development; they don’t want peace or a positive environment, he alleged.
The Supreme Court on Friday issued directions to the Uttar Pradesh government to maintain peace and harmony in Sambhal. It also prevented a local court from proceeding with the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid until January 8. The court advised the mosque committee to appeal to the high court against the local court’s survey order, assuring that the petition would be heard within three days.
The apex court also said the advocate commissioner’s report based on the survey shall also be kept secret. “We hope and trust the trial court would not take any further steps in the matter until the high court takes up the proceedings in relation to the matter and passes suitable orders.”
