New Delhi: Two women were viciously attacked by a stray dog in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Thursday, April 3. The entire incident was captured on a society’s CCTV camera and the disturbing and shocking CCTV video has sparked outrage. It showed a stray dog viciously attacking two women, one of which was an elderly lady and was seen dragging the elderly woman in a residential area. The horrifying incident took place in the Ramwadi Taji Nagar locality and has since gone viral on social media, raising fresh concerns over the growing menace of stray dogs.
The video shows the shocking nature of the act as it was entire unprovoked and it begins with the stray dog sitting quietly in a parking lot when a woman walks by. Without any visible provocation, the dog suddenly lunges at her, who then tries to protect herself along with the help of the elderly lady. In the chaos, one woman stumbles and pushes the elderly lady, who then becomes the main target of the attack thereafter.
The dog bites and drags the woman to a nearby field, continuing the assault until locals intervene. She sustained multiple injuries on her legs and arms and was rushed to the hospital, where she is undergoing treatment and has received anti-rabies medication. Locals reported that this wasn’t an isolated case. There have been repeated complaints of stray dog aggression in the area, but no significant action has been taken so far by the Dahanu Municipal Council.
Now, after the video caught public attention, Palghar municipal officials have stated they are looking into the matter. Residents are demanding urgent intervention to control the stray dog population, citing the safety of children and the elderly in particular. As the debate around stray dogs continues to intensify across the country, this incident is yet another grim reminder that preventive measures cannot wait any longer.
