New Delhi: Pakistan roared back to form in the longest format of the game and bagged a Test series victory at home after a gap of almost four years post a massive victory over England in the third and final Test match in Rawalpindi. Pakistan chased down the total of just 36 runs in 3.1 overs on Saturday after wrapping up England’s innings for 112 runs in the first session of play on Day 3.
In just 19 deliveries, the hosts achieved the target to register an emphatic victory and clinch the series 2-1. Pakistan had earlier won the second Test at Multan by 152 runs while the English bagged a victory in the series opener by an innings and 47 runs. Pakistan skipper Shan Masood scored 23 unbeaten runs off just six deliveries to finish off the game.
Pakistan’s first home Test win since 2021
The 2-1 series triumph is also Pakistan’s first home Test win win since February 2021. This is also the first Test series victory for Pakistan against England since November 2015 and this is also only the second time Pakistan have won a 3-match Test series after losing the first match after their win against Zimbabwe in 1995.
