New Delhi: In a bid to counter terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir, the authorities have demolished houses of three active terrorists in Bandipora, Pulawama and Shopian districts of the Union Territory. This was a continuous effort to eradicate the ecosystem of terrorism in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to the officials, the house of Adnan Shafi was left in rubble at Wandina in Shopian district on Saturday night. He had joined the terrorist ranks last year only. House of another active terrorist – Amir Nazir – was destroyed in Pulwama. In Bandipora, Jameel Ahmad Shergojri’s house was demolished. Jameel is the ultra of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, and has been an active terrorist since 2016.
In an intensified efforts to bring down the terrorist activities in J&K, the security forces on Saturday demolished four houses belonging to active terrorists just a day after blowing up the houses of two LeT operatives in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack. This has increased the count of total houses taken down to nine after the horrific incident on April 22..
The security forces rattled the house of Ahsan ul Haq Shiekh in south Kashmir’s Pulwama. Ahsan is an active terrorist and joined LeT in 2023. The home of Shahid Ahmad Kuttay, who has been active in terrorism since last three years, was demolished in Shopian.
Similar action was seen in Kulgam and Kupwara districts. Zakir Ahmad Ganie’s house was knocked down in Matalhama area of Kulgam while Pakistan-based LeT terrorist Farooq Ahmed Tadwa’s house was toppled in in Kupwara.
On Friday, the houses of Aadil Hussain Thokar and Asif Sheikh were razed. Both of them are said to have links to the Pahalgam attack.
The actions from security forces are in response to the terrorist firings which killed 26 people, including two foreigners, at the Baisaran meadow while most of them came for holidays along with their families.
