Srinagar: The security forces, in continuation of its crackdown against terrorists after Pahalgam terror attack, demolished the house of seven suspects linked to the incident that left at least 26 people killed and injured several others. Most of those killed in April 22 attack were tourists.
The authorities raized the hoses of three terrorists on Friday night, one each in Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama. Among suspected terrorists who house was razed included Akir Ahmad Ganie at Mutalhama village in Kulgam district. Officials believe that he also played important role in Pahalgam terror attack. He has been involved in terror activities since 2023.
Police announces reward of Rs 20 lakh on Ganie
While he has been declared most wanted, the Anantnag Police have also offered a reward of Rs 20 lakh in case somebody approaches them with any specific information. He had reportedly visited Pakistan in 2018 where he received training after which he returned to the Union Territory last year.
Apart from Guree’s, authorities also destroyed the house of another LeT tourist in the Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to ANI, one of the accused whose house was destroyed in Tral said, “My one brother is in jail, the other brother is a ‘Mujahideen’, and I also have two sisters. Yesterday, when I came here from my in-laws’ place, I did not find my parents and siblings at their home. Police had taken them all away.” The police have also arrested two terrorists from Kulgam district. Both of them were held from Thokerpora in the Qaimoh area of the district.
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reached Srinagar on Friday and reviewed the security situation in the Union Territory. He also held a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
