New Delhi: In the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Union commerce minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal on Friday asserted that incidents of terrorism would continue to trouble the nation unless all 140 crore Indians adopt patriotism and nationalism as their param dharma (supreme duty).
Addressing reporters in Mumbai, Goyal said, “As long as every Indian does not consider patriotism and nationalism their paramount duty, such incidents will persist. However, India’s strength and determination are unshakable. We have the capability to give a befitting response to such acts.”

‘Desperate last attempts’
On April 22, terrorists opened fire at a popular meadow in Kashmir’s Pahalgam killing 26 people, mostly tourists. The attack sparked widespread outrage and prompted the government to announce a series of diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty.
“These attacks are the desperate last attempts of those forces disturbed by India’s rising global stature,” Goyal said, adding, “It is an unbearable attack, but we will not spare anyone.”
Goyal also assured that the spirit of the people would ensure the swift revival of tourism in Kashmir and the safe conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from July 3 to August 9.
‘Tourism will resume soon’
“The people of Bharat have the power, courage, and confidence. Tourism will resume soon, pilgrims will continue their Amarnath Yatra, and Kashmir will remain firmly on the path of progress. No one can stop it,” he declared.
Commenting on concerns about Pakistani nationals overstaying their visas in India, the minister reiterated that all overstayers had been directed to leave the country immediately and warned that no illegal stay would be tolerated. Drawing parallels with India’s success in tackling internal threats, Goyal said, “Just as we are rapidly eliminating naxalism, we will similarly defeat terrorism.”
