PM Modi criticises Congress on reservation issue
While addressing the reservation issue, PM Modi criticized Congress for its historical stance. He claimed that Congress Prime Ministers, from Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi, opposed reservations. “History shows that Nehru ji himself wrote long letters to Chief Ministers opposing reservation. They have also delivered lengthy speeches against reservation in the House,” he said.
He accused Congress of opposing Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s efforts to introduce reservation for equality and balanced development in India. He remarked, “They raised a flag against it. The Mandal Commission report was shelved for decades. Only when Congress was removed from power did OBCs receive reservation. This is Congress’s sin.”
