Bhubaneswar: A flyover and three underpasses are all set to constructed on Puintola-Ichchapuram section of NH-16 bringing in much relief for the commuters. A tender regarding this was recently floated by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in the matter.
Under the project, the authority will build three underpasses at Randha and Bhairavi junctions in Andhra Pardesh’s Ganjam district and Edhipurma near Ichchapuram. A flyover will also be built at Lanjipalli. The total cost of the entire project is Rs 119.53 crore.
The work is scheduled to complete in 18 months
As per a report by ‘The Times of India’, the work which is scheduled to be completed in 18 months, will be carried out in engineering procurement and construction (EPC) mode.The winner of the bidding process will be given the task to execute the work. Also, the Randha and Bhairavi junctions on on the national highway have been marked as ‘black spots’, due to frequent accidents.
Berhampur MP thanks Nitin Gadkari for the project
Speaking about the project, Berhampur MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy said that locals had been demanding the construction of underpasses and flyover since long time. The MP, while sharing further details, said that he also wrote to Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari over the issue urging the construction for commuters safety. Thanking the union minister, Panigrayi also said that he would request Gadkari for the construction of overbridges at Chhatrapur, which the local residents have been demanding since long time.
