Lucknow: Hours after deadly stampede where at least 20 deaths are feared, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday demanded that Army should be handed over the management and administration of the Kumbh Mela.
Making a veiled attack over the CM Yogi Adityanath-led UP government, Akhilesh said those who have been spreading ‘false propaganda’ about the world class facilities and arrangements at Maha Kumbh should resign.
“Now that the truth behind the claims of ‘world-class system’ has been exposed, those who were making these claims and spreading false propaganda should take moral responsibility for the people killed in this accident and resign from their posts,” said Akhilesh in a post on social media platform X.
Army should take over Kumbh Mela management: Akhilesh
Yadav said handing over the Maha Kumbh management to Indian Army was necessary to re-instill faith among devotees in Prayagraj.

“In order to re-instill faith in the system among the saint community and devotees who have come to the Maha Kumbh, it is necessary that the administration and management of the Maha Kumbh should be immediately handed over to the Army instead of the UP government and administration,” added Yadav.
