Mumbai: The Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), the body that manages the operations of the Mumbai Metro, has made an exciting move to enhance user experience for the metro commuters by launching a new WhatsApp ticketing service on October 11. The service has been developed in partnership with PeLocal Fintech Private Limited that enables Mumbai Metro users to buy tickets directly through WhatsApp, providing an easy alternative to the mobile app.
Rubal Agarwal, Managing Director of MMMOCL, said, “We aim to give our commuters a familiar and easy way to book their metro tickets. Since WhatsApp is widely used in India, it was the ideal platform. This will provide a simple way for passengers to connect with our services and improve the travel experience for millions in Mumbai.”
How to buy Mumbai Metro tickets via WhatsApp?
To purchase a ticket, commuters can either send a simple “Hi” to the WhatsApp number 8652635500 or scan a QR code. This user-friendly feature will be available at all stations and lines managed by MMMOCL, making it easier for passengers to navigate the busy metro system.
Ravi Garg, Director of Business Messaging at Meta in India, emphasized how this integration will benefit commuters. He said, “This feature will greatly enhance the travel experience for many in Mumbai by allowing quick ticket purchases and easy access to past transactions, making it as easy as sending a message. We are dedicated to making commuting easier for people across the country through this user-friendly solution.”
Vivekanand Tripathi, Founder and CEO of PeLocal, expressed pride in partnering with MMMOCL to introduce WhatsApp ticketing in Mumbai. After successful launches with Delhi Metro and other transit systems, he noted, “We have seen firsthand how WhatsApp can improve commuter experiences. It simplifies ticketing and boosts efficiency.
