New Delhi: Chhota Rajan, a notorious underworld figure currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, has been admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) due to health concerns. Sources revealed that Rajan is suffering from a sinus problem, which may require surgical intervention.
The prison authorities acted after noticing a decline in his health, and doctors at AIIMS have since been monitoring his condition closely. While no official date for surgery has been announced, the jail administration has assured that Chhota Rajan is receiving appropriate medical care.
This is not the first instance where Rajan has been taken out of jail for treatment. The underworld don has faced various health problems in the past, necessitating frequent medical attention.
A notorious figure in underworld
Chhota Rajan, whose real name is Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje, was once a prominent name in the Mumbai underworld. He is serving time in Tihar Jail after being convicted in several serious criminal cases. Rajan was arrested in 2015 from Bali, Indonesia, in a high-profile operation and has been in custody ever since.
Given Chhota Rajan’s criminal history and high-profile status, his treatment at AIIMS is being conducted under tight security. The jail administration confirmed that his condition is under constant observation and any decisions regarding his surgery will be made following the doctors’ recommendations.
While his current health issues are serious enough to warrant hospitalization, officials have not yet disclosed the extent of the condition or how long his stay at AIIMS might be.
Chhota Ranjan’s past
Once a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim, Rajan became a rival to the fugitive gangster after their fallout. His involvement in numerous criminal activities, including extortion, smuggling and murder, led to his arrest and imprisonment in India.
