Zepto calls woman ‘cutie’ in push notification; slammed
“Fast forward many years, we are in an era of startups and POSH acts and all talks about women safety yet a well-known brand finds it appropriate to call a random stranger ‘Cutie’ with no context at all?” wrote the woman on LinkedIn. Further, she strongly asserted that it was not okay for any app to use such nouns.
She also stated that she had conducted a poll on Instagram relating to Zepto’s push notification and many thought she was blowing a small incident out of proportion. “Sorry, but not Sorry! This kind of marketing is where I would like to draw a Line!” wrote the woman.
Professionals on the platform sided with the woman. Many asked Zepto to better their marketing game and refrain from “cheap” tactics. Many said such notifications were just “not cool”.
