The murder of Siddique has sent shockwaves through Mumbai, unravelling a complex web of gangland connections, escalating threats, and political intrigue. While nine arrests have been made in the case, including five on Friday, the investigation continues to deepen, with new revelations emerging daily.
Zeeshan also met with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who assured him of a thorough investigation into his father’s murder. He demanded justice for his family and appealed that his father’s killing should not be politicised.
In the case that is being investigated, a shooter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Yogesh alias Raju, claimed that Baba Siddique “was not a good man”, allegedly having connections with Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most-wanted criminal.
Raju, while not linked to Siddique’s murder, stated that Siddique’s past association with Dawood could have led to his demise. “There were charges against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). It is said that he was associated with Dawood, the man behind the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. When people get involved with such individuals, something is bound to happen. This is exactly what happened to Siddique,” Raju was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Adding to the escalating tensions, police received a threatening message demanding Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan, a Bollywood actor who has been embroiled in past conflicts with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message warned that if the demand is not met, Salman Khan’s fate would be worse than Baba Siddique’s.
