Dehradun: A helicopter charter firm based at Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has registered a case against Dehradun based aviation company involving fraud of Rs 1.9 crore. The three directors of the company have been booked for allegedly violating a lease agreement for the Char Dham yatra last year.
The FIR has been registered under section 420, 467, 468, 471 and 506 of IPC at Cantt police station on Monday against Chandralekha airlines and its three directors who promised to provide helicopters on rent to this company during Char Dham yatra in 2024.
FIR was lodged by owner of the Noida company
Shubhdeep Sadhu, the owner of Mac Charters Private Limited in Noida, reported the fraud. His company, which operates chartered helicopter flights, needed to hire helicopters for the Char Dham Yatra. Abhay Kumar, Dhirendra Kumar, and Chandralekha Singh from Chandralekha Airlines approached him, claiming they had the authority to hire helicopters and owned eight aviation companies.
Chandralekha Airlines promised to provide six helicopters
Chandralekha Airlines promised to provide six helicopters, including AgustaWestland models, and Mac Charters paid Rs 1.90 crore as part of the contract. The helicopters were supposed to be delivered in two instalments: from May 15, 2024, to June 30, 2024, and from September 15, 2024, to October 28, 2024. However, as the dates approached, Chandralekha Airlines backed out and did not deliver the helicopters despite repeated requests. According to Sadhu, “The accused didn’t supply the helicopters and we have found later that the airline company had forged documents to make a deal with our company. We have not just suffered financial loss but it has dented our image too.”
Claims about the helicopters were found to be false
Sadhu had the documents from Chandralekha Airlines checked and discovered they were fake. The claims about the helicopters were also found to be false. Chandralekha Airlines had given several cheques to return the money, but they all bounced. SHO Cantt Kailash Chandra Bhatt confirmed that a case has been registered against Abhay Kumar, Dhirendra Kumar, and Chandralekha Singh based on Sadhu’s complaint. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to bring the fraudsters to justice.
