‘No rotis with spit’ or ‘Hapur-wala juice’: Adityanath at floating restaurant opening

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said at least, people won’t be served “rotis with spit” or “Hapur-wala juice” here. He made these remarks while inaugurating a state-of-the-art floating restaurant, ‘Float,’ in Gorakhpur’s Ramgarh Tal, on Thursday.

The chief minister referred to the recent scandals revolving around unhygienic food across the state, including incidents where vendors were found allegedly spitting on food or mixing urine in fruit juice.

“It is good that people here will at least not be served Hapur-wala juice or rotis with spit. Whatever served here will be pure,” Yogi Adityanath pointed out.

Recently, a video which went viral showed a teenager allegedly spitting on rotis, after which the owner of the food outlet was arrested. This incident came to light from Saharanpur. Just last week, a juice seller in Ghaziabad was arrested for allegedly mixing urine in the juices before serving it to the customers. In similar incidents reported from Noida this year, two men were arrested for spitting on juice and selling it to the people.

Directive for eateries on Kanwariya route

Earlier this year, the state government rolled out regulations which required food vendors, especially along the Kanwar Yatra route, to display their names. Even as the directive drew some flak, the government contended that the move was aimed to ensure transparency and allow customers to make informed choices about the food they consume.
