Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP leader Basangouda Ramangouda Patil Yatnal said that he was ready to contest for the party president post against incumbent BY Vijayendra if the election for the party president in the state is announced. Bijapur City (MLA) added nobody has a permanent role in the party.
“No one has permanent responsibility in our party. The responsibilities of every individual changes from time to time. There is no system of permanent president, or permanent general secretary in our party. The party’s parliamentary board decides who should lead the state,” he added further.
Both Vijayendra and me working to strengthen BJP: Yatmal
He further, “Both Vijayendra and Yatnal are working hard to strengthen the party. Anybody given the role of state president must work towards strengthening the party. Let’s see who gets the opportunity. Both of us continue to work with whoever is given the opportunity.”
Pointing out that senior leaders in the BJP handled such situations in the past, he further observed, “
We are confident that they will handle this too. The party will do its best to create consensus with sincerity among party leaders. Most of us work for ideology.”
‘Need to understand feelings of BJP workers’
He observed that even the workers of the state’s BJP unit will be happy if both leaders take the lead in strengthening the party. “We all need to understand the feelings of the workers,” Yatmal said further.
Meanwhile, he also urged state party leaders G Janardhan Reddy and B Sriramulu and forget their differences and work for the party. Yatnal noted that when he was Union minister, Reddy and Sriramulu used to work together. He added that now is the time for both leaders to work together.
