New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has categorically denied allegations of discrepancies in the recently concluded Maharashtra assembly elections, confirming that there was no mismatch between the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips and the EVM vote counts.
As per the Supreme Court and Election Commission guidelines, VVPAT slips from five randomly selected polling stations in each of the 288 assembly constituencies were tallied with the corresponding votes in the EVM Control Units. In total, 1,440 VVPATs were verified on November 23, the day of counting, with no discrepancies reported.
