Amravati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained two suspects from Maharashtra’s Amravati and Bhiwani over their alleged links with Pakistani agencies and terror outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed on Thursday as it conducted raids at 19 locations across the country in its crackdown on terror nexus.
The local police have confirmed that they are coordinating with the NIA teams for the searches and detention of the suspects.
Two held for links with terror outfit
In Amravati, the central agency arrested 27-year-old Syed Musaf Syed Musa, a resident Chhaya Nagar area. He was taken into custody following a raid and is currently being interrogated at the Rajapur police station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Syed Musaf had been in contact with Pakistani agencies and terrorist organisations via phone and various online applications for the past several months. Notably, he also has a prior molestation case registered against him in Amravati.
In Bhiwandi, the NIA arrested Kamran Ansari from the Khodi Gram Panchayat area. Similar to the Amravati case, Ansari is suspected of being in contact with Pakistani agencies and terror outfits. He is currently under interrogation, with authorities focusing on his intentions and whether is involved in any conspiracy.
NIA’s crackdown on anti-national elements
The NIA had reportedly identified these individuals as part of a broader investigation into anti-national activities. Both detainees had been on the agency’s radar for an extended period.
While the agency is yet to disclose the exact motive or details of any potential plot, interrogation is underway to uncover the reasons behind their connections with Pakistani agencies and terror groups, as well as any larger conspiracy or network.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials seek to determine how many individuals might be involved in the alleged nexus.
On Thursday, the NIA carried out searches at 19 locations as part of an investigation into a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) conspiracy to radicalise youth and spread terror in India, officials reported.
The searches were conducted across three states, including Uttar Pradesh, as well as in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, according to the officials.
