New Delhi: Congress leader on Friday targetted the Election Commission and sought a report on the voter list in Maharashtra, claiming the assembly elections last year saw more registered voters than the state’s actual population which ultimately benefitted the BJP.
Speaking at a press conference along with Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Sanjay Raut and Supriya Sule NCP (SP), Rahul alleged 39 lakh voters added in Maharashtra in the 5 months after the Lok Sabha elections against 32 lakh in the previous 5 years.
He added that the Opposition has approached the Election Commission in this connection and also sought a review of the voters’ list but did not get any positive response.
“We have been telling EC about anomalies in Maharashtra polls, we need voters’ lists of the Lok Sabha elections, and assembly elections,” Rahul said.
Further attacking the poll body, Raut said If EC is alive, it should answer questions posed by Rahul Gandhi; else it will be construed EC is slave to govt,” Sanjay Raut said.
