New Delhi: As BJP inched towards a stunning victory in Haryana, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said the “biggest lesson” of the poll outcome is that one should not be “overconfident” in elections. He was addressing AAP municipal councillors in Delhi on Tuesday.
Kejriwal pointed out, “The biggest lesson of this (Haryana elections) is that one should never be overconfident in the elections.” “No election should be taken lightly. Each election and each seat is tough. We need to work hard. There should be no infighting,” Kejriwal added.
Kejriwal’s party contested the elections in Haryana independently after it failed to strike a pact with the Congress. The seat-sharing deal couldn’t be sealed as the grand old party did not agree to offer nine seats to AAP. Therefore, AAP fought in 89 out of 90 seats but lagged behind the candidates of BJP and Congress. It failed to open its account in the state.
As he campaigned before the elections, Kejriwal had said that no party will be able to form the government in Haryana without the support of AAP.
‘Ensure proper garbage collection in your areas’
Addressing the councillors on Tuesday, the former Delhi CM also appealed to the councillors to work with utmost diligence for the approaching Delhi Assembly elections in February in 2025. He said the councillors will have key roles in the Delhi polls. “We will win the elections if you ensure there is proper garbage collection and disposal in your respective areas because maintaining cleanliness is a very basic thing,” Kejriwal told the councillors during the address on Tuesday.
The Congress, which was racing towards majority mark in the first hour of counting, failed miserably later as the BJP widened its lead. The BJP scored a hat-trick in Haryana, beating the anti-incumbency.
