New Delhi: In an important update for passengers taking train from the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), the Railways has announced changes in entry points at the station to manage the surge in crowd in view of Diwali and Chhath festivities. The changes have been made for efficient crowd management at the railway station and aide passengers in easily reaching the platform to catch their trains. Some gates of the New Delhi Railway Station have been closed and some roads roads have also been diverted for the same.
New Delhi Railway Station: Entry ONLY from this gate
Announcing the changes regarding entry at the station, Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar said that to manage the surge in passengers and their convenience, changes have been made in entry gates, considering the platform they need to reach. The entries will be separate for reservation and general ticket passengers. He said that platform number 16 entry from the foot over bridge has been closed. Passengers with reservation tickets boarding trains from platform number 16 will get entry only from gate numbers 7 and 10 from Ajmeri Gate side.
General tickets passengers to enter from THIS gate
A separate gate has been reserved for unreserved passengers travelling on general tickets from the NDLS. These passengers will be able to enter the station from gate no. 12 via the green corridor from Ajmeri Gate.
Passengers of trains arriving on any platform between 1 to 15 will get entry from gate number 8, 9 and 11. These passengers will not be able to enter from other gates. Meanwhile, direct entry from DMRC Metro Skywalk to Foot Over Bridge 2 at the NDLS has also been closed.
Things to keep in mind while travelling from NDLS
If you entering from Ajmeri Gate side and going towards platform number 16 from the foot over bridge, then note that this route has been closed. Those who have reservation tickets for platform number 16 will get entry only from gate number 7 and 10. Those with general tickets will get entry only from gate number 12 from Green Park. Entry for platform 15 to 1 will be from gate number 8, 9 and 11.
The Railways advised all passengers to reach station with extra time in hand as crowd management measures, excessive crowd at stations and platforms due to festive season and traffic may lead to potential delays. It added that security check, luggage check and few entries being closed may also lead to delays.
