Dehradun: Uttarakhand gears up for the 38th National Games now. To mark the occasion, a torch rally will begin in Haldwani on December 26, 2024, aiming to spread awareness about the National Games across the state.
Organized with the intent of engaging the general public and igniting enthusiasm for the games, the rally will cover an impressive 3,823 kilometers over 35 days, passing through 99 locations in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand.
Rally is scheduled to start from Haldwani to spread awareness
The torch rally is scheduled to start from Haldwani, Nainital district, and will journey through various regions, making stops in towns and villages to rally support and awareness. The detailed route includes notable locations such as Bhimtal, Dhari, and Nainital on the first day. The rally will then move to Udham Singh Nagar, traveling through Kashipur, Jaspur, and Rudrapur, before reaching Champawat, where it will visit Banbasa, Tanakpur, and Champawat town.
Torch will reach Pithoragarh on 1 Jan
From January 1, 2025, the torch will reach Pithoragarh, visiting places like Dharchula and Munsiyari. Almora, a key district, will host the torch from January 3 to 5, covering places like Dwarahat and Kausani. The journey will continue to Bageshwar, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag, ensuring the flame touches significant areas like Karnaprayag and Ukhimath.
Celebrating unity and sportsmanship
The rally’s extensive itinerary underscores the inclusivity and community spirit behind the National Games. Sports Minister Rekha Arya emphasized that the torch rally aims to unite people and create widespread awareness about the games. “All preparations have been made to ensure the torch reaches every district, promoting the values of sportsmanship and unity,” she said. During its travel, the torch rally will not only focus on spreading light but also on engaging with local communities through various programs and events.
Countdown to the National Games
The rally will culminate in Dehradun on January 27, 2025, just a day before the formal inauguration of the National Games on January 28. By the end of its journey, the torch will have visited all 13 districts, including extensive tours in Almora and Pauri, where it will travel to 14 locations each.
