Dehradun: As the countdown to the 38th National Games begins, Dehradun is abuzz with activity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the event on January 28, and in anticipation of his arrival, stringent security measures have been put in place.
All participating teams have been instructed to enter the stadium four hours before the Prime Minister’s arrival to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted march past. Lakshya Sen, the badminton player, is to lead the march past during inauguration.
Crucial meeting to discuss the logistics and security arrangements
The Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC), along with the Chef de Mission and other sports officials, held a crucial meeting to discuss the logistics and security arrangements. The GTCC emphasized the importance of adhering to the security protocols and assured that all preparations are being made with the utmost care.
Lakshya Sen, the badminton prodigy, will lead the march past
One of the highlights of the event will be the leadership of the march past. It is almost certain that Lakshya Sen, the badminton prodigy who has brought laurels to Uttarakhand on both national and international stages, will lead the march past. Sen’s leadership will be complemented by other Olympian players and senior medal winners from the state. Official confirmation of Sen’s role is expected to be announced soon.
Chef de Mission from various states overseeing the preparations
In the lead-up to the games, the Chef de Mission from various states have been actively involved in overseeing the preparations. Around 20 Chef de Mission have arrived in Dehradun, with another 10 joining online. They conducted thorough inspections of the Parade Ground and Maharana Pratap Stadium, the key venues for the games.

During a day-long meeting, the officials reviewed various aspects of the event, including accommodation for players, issuance of recognition letters, and other logistical arrangements. GTCC President Sunaina Kumari expressed her commitment to providing a world-class experience for athletes, officials, and spectators. “Today’s meeting was an important step towards achieving this goal,” she stated.
Some athletics track and shooting range, are in the final stages
Mahesh Joshi, the Chef de Mission for Uttarakhand, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the state’s readiness to host a grand event. “Preparations at some venues, including the athletics track and shooting range, are in the final stages and will be completed soon. The state is ready for a grand event of the games,” he said. Joshi also emphasized the long-term benefits of hosting the National Games, noting that the players of Uttarakhand will gain access to international-level infrastructure across all sports.
