Nashik: Security was tightened in Nashik, Maharashtra, following protests by Hindu organisations against a dargah that they claim has been built illegally. The organisations alleged that the structure was constructed on encroached land and are demanding its demolition. They also proposed building a temple at the site.
Hindu organisations protesting against the dargah demanded its demolition and insisted that a temple dedicated to Bajrang Bali (Hanuman) should be built in its place. They claimed that the land where the dargah stands was illegally occupied by the Muslim community. The protests have been growing, with members of the Hindu community planning a large demonstration near the site.
Nashik police tightened security in the area, fearing that the demonstrations might lead to a violent situation. To maintain law and order, heavy police forces have been deployed around the dargah. Authorities barricaded the area, restricting movement to prevent any untoward incidents.
The situation became more tense after a bike rally organized by a Hindu group led to a clash between two groups, escalating tensions further. Following the incident, the police stationed a large number of personnel in and around the location to prevent any violence.
