New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has highlighted the need for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance to adopt a “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” approach in seat-sharing as Maharashtra prepares for assembly elections on November 20. Raut stated that equitable seat distribution among the Congress, NCP-SCP, and Shiv Sena (UBT) would increase the coalition’s strength across the state.
“There are three strong political parties in Maharashtra: Congress, NCP-SCP, and Shiv Sena (UBT). I believe our seat-sharing must be fair and inclusive. In Haryana, Congress contested all seats but couldn’t form the government. It’s essential we move forward together under ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas,’” Raut said on Saturday.
Three days left to finalise candidate lists
The MVA has outlined its seat-sharing arrangement for 255 of the 288 constituencies, granting each of the three main parties 85 seats. The remaining 23 seats will be distributed based on candidate lists submitted by each party. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed on Thursday that an agreement had been reached for these allocations.
However, challenges remain, with just three days left to finalise candidate lists before the filing deadline on October 29. This limited timeline has added pressure, as senior members from both the MVA and its rival Mahayuti alliance are spending more time in discussions than in their own constituencies.
The situation is particularly tense as senior leaders from both alliances, instead of focusing on campaign efforts, find themselves in prolonged seat-sharing talks in Mumbai and Delhi. While the MVA has yet to finalise all candidate details, the uncertainty has delayed critical campaign momentum, with some leaders voicing concerns over the need to shift attention to their own constituencies ahead of voting on November 20.
