Mumbai: A woman who booked a cleaning service through an online platform loses gold worth Rs 4 lakh. The two service men who came at her house stole away the gold jewellery while cleaning.
The woman identified as Leena Mhatre, who is 59-year-old lives in Rishikesh Society in Dahisar, Mumbai. To get her house cleaned during Diwali, she booked a cleaning service from ‘NoBroker’ app on October 21. The next day, two individuals arrived at her home at around 9:00 am. After the serviceman left the home after cleaning, Mhatre found out that the cupboard was open. On inspection, she discovered that her gold ornaments had been stolen.
Three suspects arrested
After the incident, Mhatre contacted the police to file a complaint. The police after investigation arrested Arbaz Khan aged 27, as the primary suspect in the case. The police identified two other individuals after examining the CCTV footage from the society. The two individuals have been identified as Santosh Omprakash Yadav and Sufiyan Nazeer Ahmad Soudar, who are still being interrogated.
App ‘NoBroker’ under investigation
The police is investigating the accountability held by the app NoBroker in the case and whether the app did a proper verification of the serviceman before they engaged with the app. Police officer Sandip Gorde explained, “According to rules all the service employees are required to submit police verification certificate, before they are assigned the private residences. The cleaning staff are also required to follow this rule,” as reported by Free Press Journal.”
“We are investigating whether the employees were verified by NoBroker or not before they joined the service.” officer told the Lokmat.
