Mumbai: The incidences of robbery by home service providers have been increasing frequently. In a recent incident, a man booked a home haircut service through online platform. The service person who was supposed to provide the haircut took away jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh from his house. The man filed a complaint against this to the Malad Police.
A 39-year-old man who is a Malad resident works in a multinational retail company. On Friday, November 1 he booked an appointment through an online platform for getting a haircut and shave in his home. The service provider contacted the man and told him that he would be coming for the service at 12:30 pm the next day.
Covered eyes while stealing
As per the FIR, after giving the haircut and shave the service provider told the man that there are blemishes on his face and he can give additional services to remove them. After the man agreed, the service provider put some creams on his face and also covered his face with cloth. He asked the man to keep his eyes shut for sometime, as reported by Mid-day.
Investigation and search operation on
The man told the Malad Police that while his eyes were covered he heard the sound of cupboard but ignored it thinking that he was mistaken. After the service provider left, the man saw that the cupboard was slightly open. He checked the cupboard and found out that the jewellery was not there. He then inquired about the missing jewellery to his mother and found out that she didn’t know where it is. The man approached the police to file a complaint, suspecting that the service provider might have taken the jewellery.
A Malad Police station officer said, “Investigation and search operation have been started for the service provider. Summons notice has also been sent on his mobile number.”
