Mumbai girl’s desperate bid to hide Thailand trip lands her in trouble

New Delhi: A 25-year-old fashion merchandising student’s desperation to hide her visit to Thailand from her Mumbai-based institute landed her in trouble. SS Ghatol reportedly mutilated her passport to hide her trip.

Intercepted at Mumbai airport

She was intercepted at Mumbai airport on Thursday while attempting to board a flight to Singapore. The first-year student, was travelling on a tourist visa to fulfil an internship sponsored by her institute.

Ghatol had undertaken a trip to Thailand from Feb 11 to 14 and had sought exemption from an exam claiming that she was unwell, according to a report by the Times of India.

Booked under Passports Act

She feared getting caught after the institute asked her to submit her passport for the internship in Singapore.

She has been booked for cheating and and the Passports Act.
