Mumbai: A 10-year-old girl from Oswal Nagari is in critical condition after an incident involving her coaching class teacher. The girl, a student in standard V, was reportedly slapped by her teacher on October 13, resulting in a severe ear injury that has led to a life-threatening tetanus infection.
As per the reported information the incident occurred during a private coaching session when the teacher allegedly struck the girl across the face for being mischievous. The force of the slap caused the girl’s earring to pierce the back of her ear, leading to the injury. Her father, Ambaram Patel, claims that the wound became infected, and his daughter is now unconscious is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of K J Somaiya Hospital in Chunabhatti.
FIR lodged, teacher yet to be arrested
Patel has voiced his anger and concern over the situation, holding the teacher responsible for his daughter’s deteriorating health. After filing a complaint at the Tulinj police station, an FIR was registered against the teacher under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). However, authorities are yet to arrest her.
Meanwhile, Police Sub-Inspector Vinod Waingankar, as per a Mid-Day report confirmed that a case has been registered against the teacher. “This is a bailable offense, so no arrest has been made yet, but we have issued a notice to the teacher,” he stated, as quoted by the Mid-Day.

Patel initially sought treatment for his daughter at a local clinic, but her condition worsened. He described the harrowing experience of watching his daughter’s health decline, with symptoms including jaw locking and an inability to speak. After being turned away from several government hospitals due to a lack of available beds, he admitted her to the private facility where she is currently being treated.
