New Delhi: Team India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant never fails to entertain the cricket fans with his continuous funny one-liners and conversations with his teammates. Pant once again is in the spotlight after his bowling advice to Washington Sundar went wrong on Day 1 of the India vs New Zealand second Test match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
During the 78th over of the first innings against the Blackcaps, Sundar was bowling to Ajaz Patel. During the over, Pant advised Sundar to bowl a bit more fuller. “Washi aage daal sakte hai, you can bowl little fuller. Thoda baahar daal sakta hai,” said Pant.
But his plan backfired as Ajaz Patel smashed a boundary over long-on and Pant quickly defended himself saying he didn’t know that the batter could speak Hindi. “Yaar mereko kya pata issey Hindi aati hai” Pant said after the boundary.
However, Sundar dismissed Ajaz Patel on 4 runs at the end of the same over. He bowled a flat delivery which spun a bit and got the better of the Kiwi spinner who was looking to play a defensive shot but the ball got the inside edge of his and crashed onto the stumps.

Washington Sundar shines on Day 1
The Day 1 of the second Test belonged to Washington Sundar, who delivered a brilliant performance with the ball. He replaced Kuldeep Yadav in the squad and picked up seven wickets. Sundar made a stunning comeback to the Indian Test team after more than three years and showcased exceptional skills with the ball.
The Kiwi batters looked clueless against his bowling and their team got bundled out for 259 runs. Tim Southee provided a great start to the Blackcaps and dismissed captain Rohit Sharma on a duck. Team India ended Day 1 at 16/1 with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal still at the crease.
