New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad, a school principal was gunned down. It all happened in broad daylight as the principal was heading towards the school.
A video of the incident, which occurred in the Lakdi area under the limits of Majhola police station, has emerged. It shows the principal on the way towards the school when two bike-borne shooters come from the back and shoot him in the head. The assailants fled the site after committing the crime.
As he was shot in the head, the principal collapsed on the road. The passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead.
Shabab Hasan served as the principal of Sai Vidya Mandir School. The school is owned by Shammi Bhatnagar, the city president of the BJP.
Motive still not clear
SP City Ranvijay Singh, who swung into action after receiving information about the incident and rushed to the spot, was quoted as saying by Times of India: “The incident happened around 9 am. Two attackers on a bike came close and shot him in the head.” He pointed out that the motive for the incident was still not clear.
Police sources said that four months ago, a female student from the same school had died by suicide. An FIR was lodged in that case against Shabab as the family of the girl had alleged that he used to torture their daughter.
The cops are probing if Shabab’s murder has any links with the girl’s suicide case. They are trying to identify the assailants by scanning the CCTV footage of the incident.
Moradabad’s SP Satpal Antil has set up five teams to probe the incident. Separate teams have been formed to coordinate with the SOG, conduct surveillance, and review the CCTV footage. The SSP has asked officers to nab the perpetrators of the crime as soon as possible.
