The FIR states that Mohan Babu attacked Ranjith using a steel pipe and a microphone with a metal logo after the journalist tried to take back his microphone and phone. According to the FIR, Ranjith was invited to the Jalpalli residence by Manoj to cover the ongoing dispute with his father.

Eyewitnesses claim the fight broke out when Manoj confronted Mohan Babu’s staff, triggering an angry response his father. Staff members at the actor’s residence suggest the altercation is rooted in longstanding family disputes, which have now spiralled out of control.

Mounika, Manoj’s wife, expressed frustration over the lack of police protection for her husband despite filing a prior complaint. In a heated phone call with the police, she criticised their inaction and threatened to take legal action if her family’s safety was compromised. Mounika called for fairness from the authorities and insisted on urgent action.

In response to the escalating situation, senior police officers have issued notices to Mohan Babu, Vishnu, and Manoj, requiring them to appear for questioning at 10:30 AM on Wednesday. Additionally, orders have been issued to seize firearms belonging to Mohan Babu and Vishnu as a precautionary measure.

What is the Manchu family dispute?

The incident has put the Manchu family dispute out in the open. What began as a family matter has now drawn public attention with multiple allegations, mutual cases, and increasing tensions.

The feud in Mohan Babu’s household came to light on Monday when he filed a police complaint accusing his younger son, Manoj, and his wife of orchestrating a plan to take possession of his Jalpally home through intimidation and force.

In response, Manoj addressed reporters on Tuesday, asserting that his actions were not about property but self-respect. He denied the allegations made by his father, describing them as baseless and malicious in a social media post. Manoj also revealed that he had sought police protection for himself and his family and had met with a senior police official to discuss the matter.

Mohan Babu’s elder son, Vishnu, expressed hope that the family issues would be resolved internally.

Earlier, Manoj and several others were booked by the police following Mohan Babu’s complaint. The actor alleged that on December 8, Manoj, along with some anti-social elements, caused a disturbance at his residence. He stated that on Monday, one of his employees informed him that 30 individuals had trespassed into the property, threatened the staff, and forced them to vacate the premises.
